The University of Bristol is a public research university. It is a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive British universities and received its Royal Charter in 1909. It has been named inside the global top 28 by the QS World University Rankings and is the largest independent employer in Bristol. Its current academics include 18 Fellows of the Academy of Medical Sciences, 10 Fellows of the British Academy, 13 Fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering and 31 Fellows of the Royal Society.
Bristol is situated in the South West of England, surrounded by rolling countryside, but only 90 minutes from London by train. The city is well connected as a major road and rail network hub and also has a busy international airport.
