King's College London (University of London) Back <<

King's College London was founded by King George IV and the Duke of Wellington (then Prime Minister) in 1829 as a university college in the tradition of the Church of England. It now welcomes staff and students of all faiths and beliefs.

King's professors played a major part in nineteenth-century science, and in extending higher education to women, working men and through evening classes.

There are six campuses: Strand Campus, Guy’s Campus, St Thomas’ Campus, Waterloo Campus, and King’s Denmark Hill Campus, which are all near tube stations within London.

Established in 1892, King’s College London is one of the top 30 universities in the world (2011/2012 QS international world rankings), the Sunday Times 'University of the Year 2010/11' and the fourth oldest in England. A research-led university based in the heart of London, it has nearly 23,500 students (of whom nearly 9,000 are graduate students) from 150 countries and approximately 6,000 employees.
