Sports: Sports have always had a great tradition at the Lyceum Alpinum and accordingly they play an important part in the life of the school. The school motto "mens sana in corpore sano" indicates the fundamental value of physical activities as the basis for the development of the whole person. Sporting values such as "Team Spirit" and "Fair Play” still guide us in the physical education of our students. A comprehensive Games and Physical Education programme acts as the main vehicle to deliver these values to our students.
Art: Art education at the Lyceum Alpinum is an integral part of the curriculum, both in the Matura Section and in the Department of International Studies. Comparable to subjects such as Music, Art is aimed at promoting students’ emotional and creative development. There is a clear focus on encouraging the individual talents of the students. Building a solid basis of techniques and skills is essential for carrying out creative work, be it inspired by imagination and passion, a love of experimentation or observing nature. Not least, an important task of art education is to develop a critical approach towards the possibilities of modern media and an intense engagement with the visual arts and contemporary artistic production.
Theatre: 500 years after Gian Travers the Zuoz Globe revives the old theatre culture of Zuoz. The Zuoz Globe is an original stage construction which fits effortlessly into the oldest part of the Lyceum Alpinum. Made from local larch, it is a flexible theatre space which alludes to and freshly interprets Shakespeare’s Globe.
Far more than a school facility, the Zuoz Globe is a magnet for the entire cultural life of the region. This architectural gem is the ideal setting for all kinds of events, conferences, concerts and performances: it has a central stage of 30m2 and seats an audience of 99 on three sides – an open, flexible, inspiring space with state-of-the-art infrastructure, a generously-proportioned foyer with food and beverage service on request. Whatever your creative project, the Zuoz Globe is an adaptable and atmospheric venue for it.
